Terran’s Marauder Winning Strategy
2The earliest available Armored unit in the Terran arsenal, the Terran Marauder is an extremely useful support unit that still packs quite a punch. Suited in a bulkier and more durable armored suit than their Marine counterparts, Marauders start with an impressive 125 life, and 1 point of armor, which may be upgraded for an extra +1 armor a maximum of three times. Armed with Dual Punisher Grenade Launchers, Marauders deal an additional 10 damage to Armored units in addition to their 10 base damage. With every upgrade in Terran Infantry Weapons, Marauders gain an additional +1 damage and +1 damage vs Armored.
Only requiring a Barracks with an attached Tech Lab, Marauders are easily accessible and are a common sight in Terran armies from early game through the late. While Marauders are more durable and deal more damage than Marines, they are incapable of attacking air, and are most often mixed into Marines to form a well mixed “bio ball” capable of dealing excellent damage against both air and Armored units. With Medivacs flying overhead, a combination of Marauders and Marines are a deadly mix; this technique of “MMM” is one of the most popular and common Terran strategies because of its efficiency and mobility. Marauders are also good for hit and run techniques on unguarded enemy expansions because of their +10 extra damage to Armored units making them a viable “siege” or “demolition” unit.
Just like Marines, Marauders greatly benefit from the +1 damage Terran Infantry Weapons upgrade in order to eliminate incoming melee units and for quicker hit and run tactics. Because of their high health though, Marauders also get a nice bonus from the +1 armor Terran Infantry Armor upgrade, much more so than Marines. Marauders also benefit from the StimPack upgrade located in a Tech Lab, which provides an increased movement and attack speed for approximately 5 seconds at the cost of 10 health. Because of their considerably higher health than Marines, Marauders arguably make much better use of StimPack ability. In addition to using the ability to overpower enemy armies, Marauders can again increase their hit and run ability by using StimPack right before attacking an expansion.
What really makes the Marauder shine though is the Concussive Shell upgrade located at a Tech Lab. This ability provides the Marauder with a passive slow attack which decreases the movement speed of any target attacked by the Marauder. Incredibly useful on its own, the upgrade cost of only 50 Minerals and 50 Gas just makes the ability even sweeter. Marauders with Concussive Shells give Terran armies the ability to “kite” enemy melee units: when they try to attack your army, pull back in between attack cooldowns never letting them reach you because of the slow; the moment they try to retreat, follow the slowed enemies.
Because of their lack of an air attack, Marauders are extremely vulnerable to almost any air unit and they should generally be supported with a unit capable of attacking air. Marauders must also watch out for swarms of “weaker” units such as Terran Marines, Protoss Zealots, and Zerg Zerglings. While Marauders are viable throughout the game because of their slow, Marauders are extremely effective against Zerg Roaches and Protoss Stalkers during the early game, and dish out a lot of damage to Terran Thors during the mid to late game.

How To Win Against Protoss Sentries
1When Zerg is confronted by a Protoss player, Zerg player must be cautious when attacking opponent’s base. Protoss Sentries can harm your attack and lead you to losing your army and thus the whole match. Sentries are quite common in Starcraft 2 as they are really successful against zergling attacks. To destroy sentries and win the match you will need to know some basic strategies on how to win against sentries, starcraft 2 counter sentries strategy.
Use scouting to determine what your opponent is doing. If your opponent is going for massive amounts of sentries you should stop training zerglings, as they are no use against sentries. Tech up to a lair and use hydralisks as your main attack unit. You will need a weapon which can do damage from ranges bigger than the sentries force field. Mutalisks and roaches are also a bad idea as they perform awful against sentries and stalkers.
First of when attacking sentries with hydralisks try not to get your army in a corner or anywhere it can be walled off. Also train some infestors because you never know how fast your opponent will build colossus to counter attack your hydralisks. Another tactic is also to create a “barrier” of your forces around opponents base to keep them from expanding. Attack your opponent’s base when it is weakened.
How To Effectively Use Zerg Rush
4One of the fundamental tactics in Starcraft 2 is rushing. When performed correctly rushing may deliver you the slight edge that you need to win a match. By rushing you may put your opponent’s economy to a stop or even defeat him altogether. Anyhow, trying to achieve impossible and win the match just by rushing may backfire and leave you without protection and army.
Rushing very early in a fight may lead to disaster. Avoid early rushes, build at least 20 zerglings and than make your move. Small units of zerglings are very vulnerable to any attack but are highly effective due to the speed upgrade. But bare in mind that no experienced player will fall after the early rush. He will easily defend it and begin the counterattack.
When playing Zerg, rushing is very effective. Late rush that is! Build up your drones and one extractor and as soon as you get gas start the speed upgrade in the spawning pool. You will need about 25 drones before building massive amounts of zerglings. During the speed upgrade you should get by now about 20 zerglings. Get them together and rush into opponent’s base to the workers. You speed will help you get to them before opponent will even properly react. So attack the workers and take out as many as you can, thus harming the opponent’s economy.
When your force gets destroyed start building roaches and hydra’s for a second attack. Your opponent will be too busy with restoring his workers and economy to properly counter. When you get your forces for the second attack rush with them and finish off your opponent.
Good luck!
Zerg Mutalisk Rush Strategy
0Many Zerg players don’t realize they are missing out on several winning tactics. We’ve talked about them in other Zerg strategy guides and here is another. Mutalisk rush is one of the best strategies when confronted by another Zerg player or Protoss. The key of mutalisk rush is to disable opponent’s workers and harm their economy. Using them against a Terran player could be a disaster as Terran marines perform very well against mutalisks.
You should use this strategy right from the beginning by saving your gas and only training zerglings. Zergling rush is also a great strategy but more about that in another guide. Mutalisk will perform best, if not spotted. So use your zerglings to protect your base from opponent’s scouts.
When using this tactic you should start your match with 14 pool build, which you must upgrade as soon as possible. For mutalisk you will need a lot of gas so make sure you have enough extractors. Use zerglings to defend and also scout your opponent. When you have enough mutalisks that you feel comfortable to attack send them to take out as many opponent’s workers as you can. When you succeed destroying or at least slowing down their economy use roaches or hydralisks to destroy opponent for good. If your mutalisk rush does not succeed you need to prepare for combat by using hydralisks or roaches as they perform excellent as a main fighting unit.
This strategy surely is a thing to try, but know that it will not succeed every time. Testing it will prove if it is worth using it.
Starcraft 2 Terran vs Terran Counter Strategy
1Matches against the same race seems to be the trickiest. Countering Terran vs Terran is a bit harder and it pretty much depends on your scouting abilities. If you build your forces randomly you may lose even to a smaller opponent’s force. Tactics play a vital role in such matches and it is crucial to know the right technique.
For countering marines the best choice would be to use tanks as they will dominate with their amount of damage. Another, rather obvious unit is sniper, which kills a marine with one shot.In combination with hellions you will have no problem dealing with large groups of marines. Hellions perform great against large groups of opponent’s units.
Countering mauraders is also straight forward by using banshees. Send that air strike and achieve a total dominance. Larger groups of marines will also do the trick, but remember to train a large group.
Hellions are weak against thors who wipe them out with their damage ability. Using tanks is also an obvious tactic – siege tank that is. Siege tanks may destroy up to 3-4 hellions. Using them in combination with banshees is also a good strategy.
Countering siege tanks is succesful by using banshees and mauraders. Mauraders are cheap to build.
Vikings should be countered by an upgraded viking unit with help of a bunch of marines – numbers matter!
Banshees are weak against vikings and marines. Viking can bring a great amount of damage and is pretty useful for this matter.
Marines are also very useful against the thors. That may seem strange, but with a great number of cheap marines you may destroy thors, which will waste their firepower against marines while shooting one by one. Battlecruisers are another choise, but upgrade them first!
Starcraft 2 Zerg vs Zerg Tactics Strategy
0Often you will find yourself in a position, where you have two identical races playing against each other. Here is a quick guide on how to use Zerg vs Zerg as an advantage.
When playing against the same race make sure that you know what your opponent is doing. Scout opponent’s base frequently to avoid any surprises. You will need to watch out for speedling baneling attack. You must be fast and use every second to build economy and to build units as fast and as much as possible. Build some banelings and speedlings just for case if you will need to counter-attack.
Countering agaist fast tech to mutalisks is quite easy if you know what you are doing and if you are expecting the attack. Use hydralisks to face opponent’s mutalisks, they will do their job. Using mutalisks is not a very good idea when facing the Zerg opponent. To create a mutalisk you need 100 gas, which you haven’t got. If you do, than you are building too slowly. Hydralisks are much more superior and only take 75 gas to create. But also hydralisk unit can be a disadvantage for its speed. Do not forget for speed upgraded zerglings, which can be also a great counter unit and can be used to harass opponents. Use them and try bring down opponents economy.
When creating the attack force I would recommend to go for roaches, hydralisks. Use them in combination with banelings, which have many tactical advantages explained in other article. Banelings are very important in any battle, whether it is against Protoss, Terran and especially when against Zerg.
Using Zerg’s Infestor Strategy For Their Special Abilities
0Zerg’s infestor unit is a very powerful piece of your army and should be taken in consideration, also if you are playing against a Zerg player. If used correctly, infestor can dominate every big unit, such as thor or colossus or large groups of marines and zealots. Of course if you know the tactics and the strategy. Here is how you should use infestor in combat:
Infestor’s neural parasite ability is very sufficient against opponent’s units, as it takes control of them for a few seconds. Use it when confronted by thors or tanks, when playing against Terran and colossus and immortals, for Protoss. Those precious few seconds may turn any fight into your advantage. Another ability is fungal growth, which is most usable against groups of small units, such as marines. It does 36 damage to a large area of units. Your opponents will tremble when all their marines get slaughtered by your infestors. Scout opponents base and learn what is he doing and adapt to it, infestors will come in handy.
They are powerful but have light armor, which means that they will get easily destroyed, if you do not protect them. Use them in larger groups, combined with hydralisks and speed upgraded zerglings. Put your infestors behind them and save them for their two special abilities.
Keeping this in mind you should perfect your tactics by testing. Using infestor efficiently is tough, but not impossible. Players at higher level often use them and so should you. Starcraft 2 has a greatly balanced races and you need to search for such little advantages to get your win.
How To Defend Terran Reaper Rush – Zerg vs Terran
1When you are using Zerg race you must like with any other, adapt your game against the opponents. If your opponent chooses Terran there is one major tactic you need to know about. Those are Terran reapers. Highly effective when performing in large groups, they can swarm your base in no time. If you have trouble confronting such an attack this guide will teach you how to defend a Terran reaper rush.
One of the vital measures you will need to take is to upgrade zerglings speed. And I mean upgrade it right away, when you get 100 gas is your Q to start the speed upgrade at the sparning pool and than train some zerglings. Chase the reapers until you kill them all. You will have a large speed advantage, which is vital for victory. You could also build less effective roaches but they are often just slowing your overall progress as they do also very bad against marauders.
Another tactic is to get anti air very soon in the match. They will provide you with some defense against small groups of reapers, which are often used to tease you and to keep your scouts off their back, but do not fall for that. Also get some corruptors but keep your hand off mutalisks and marines. Important is to know what your opponent is doing so keep scouting his base to see what tactic is he using. Ground or air.
By using speed upgraded Zerglings and anti air defense, you will most likely defend reaper rushes successfully, while frustrating your opponents and getting them crushed.
